Sun 9-Sep-2001 Got up and split up. Corey had to go to an internet cafe to check his finances. Erik and I went out to investigate a nicer hotel - the Hotel Salvator, a three star hotel. Personally, I would just have preferred to stay at the Hostel Jednota even though it was a dump; I saw it as a waste of time. After that, we went window shopping and I ended up purchasing a chess board and Erik and I ended up playing a game. We then set off to Prague Castle. On the way there, you have to cross a river, the Karluv Most and the place was crawling with tourists. The weather was lousy so we welcomed an opportunity to eat food; we ate lunch at a Czech restaurant called "U Cerneho Orla". I ended up eating pork shoulder, which ended up violating one of my main rules about food; never eat food that requires picking at or other forms of work. I think that I ate less than half of the meat on it. Then it was back to the trek to the castle. Prague Castle is huge; apparently it is the largest ancient castle in the world. Just standing next to St. Vitus' Cathedral (the tallest building within the grounds) makes one's palms sweat. Inside, we took the stairs to the top. The spiral staircase was the highest ones I have ever climbed; on the way up every time I thought that I was near the top there were more stairs. By the time I got to the top, I was exhausted. Either way, getting to the top was sure it; the view was fantastic. From the top you can see an awesome view of the city. The castle also has some more interesting sights, including a basilica. After the castle, we ate dinner at Pivnice Radegast (very nice goulash) and then saw a play. The play was Faust done in blacklight and while the seats were cramped, the play was fantastic. By taking advantage of blacklight, they were able to do many things that could not have normally done on stage, such have people "floating" around and other interesting things.
