MSN backgammon
One of the best games of all times is backgammon and one of the internet hottest uses
is online gaming. If you want to try this game or if you are a professional player
want to pass the time, playing on the internet, you can choose between a few backgammon
softwares there are on the internet. One of the more popular is MSN backgammon software.
Review - MSN backgammon
If you want to play backgammon on the internet, as claimed before, one of the options is
entering MSN gaming zone and use the MSN backgammon suggested on there. Important to
know that without a hotmail Email account you can't enter the MSN backgammon as any other
game on the MSN gaming zone. After logging into your account, you can use the
MSN backgammon software provided by the site. The software is
using the flash technology, means that the downloading is taking a while. One more
problem - it's not only for the first logging but after every step on your way to playing,
you wait for downloading. Of course, While waiting, you get to watch some advertisements...
after one or two minutes, the MSN backgammon, will appear and you'll be asked to choose
one of three kinds of playing: against a friend, computer, or a player you will cal.
the opponent will be chosen is one close to your skill level
(you can't do it yourself, the system will do it for you).
MSN backgammon - the play
The graphic design is not too bad - As can be seen on the picture, though the MSN backgammon
software is using 2D interface and not 3d as the more sophisticated/professional softwares
(Gammon Empire etc.).You can chat with your opponent, while playing, using a friendly chat system.
The board is a bit small (half of the screen of the MSN backgammon, more or less, is occupied by
advertisements and the chat system mentioned above) which means you can't get the feeling
of the real game. Double clicking or any other sophisticated combinations have no use.
You don't even get to approve your play and after you made it- there is no way to go back.
In my eyes, the biggest problem of the MSN backgammon is the number of players on the system
- a few hundreds players at the same time. The number declared by MSN backgammon lobby is bigger,
but I think that this number is including players that are not available (players that chose
playing against someone they called using the msn messenger).

The experience of MSN backgammon
If you want to combine the backgammon game with a random chat (with some bored old lady or an
enthusiastic kid (: ..) If you are looking for backgammon software but you don't care too much
about the feeling of the game itself. In this case, the backgammon software is very good for you.
If you are looking for a game that will give you the feeling of the real thing - look elsewhere:
the MSN backgammon software was not made for this. (if you are looking for a chat - what
are you doing here anyway?).
